It's been a while in the making... but I am finally taking the plunge.
For years I put off writing a newsletter, never wanting to commit to the time and effort involved and, in truth, seconding-guessing that anything I write wouldn’t just add to an already crowded space, and not contribute value. What more could I say that someone else, somewhere else isn’t already saying? Well, recently I’ve done some taking stock. It’s time to put my 25 years of insider restaurant, entertainment, travel and cooking info all in one place, and create a space where I can answer all the questions I’m asked on the daily, from friends, colleagues, viewers, followers, readers, and strangers alike!
The majority of these questions are food and restaurant-related recommendations: what I love to cook, where I eat out, tools I use in the kitchen, and where to travel. If you’re getting this email today, either you subscribed to receive it through my website over the last few years, or we are connected through the world of food somehow. So, consider The Mouthful sorta like your exclusive concierge to all the restaurants, destinations, bites and recipes I am crazy about at this very moment. Every letter will feature a mix of functional to-eat/go/do lists, based on what YOU ask in the comments, and what I love in the season.
It will also be a place where I can take you behind-the-scenes of the different things I do — from shooting Top Chef to recipe testing, events of all kinds and where I’m going next. The more info I get from you, the more tailored I can be. And for paid subscribers, I'll be providing exclusive Ask Me Anything (AMA) video sessions and guest Q&As, so we can dig in a little deeper.
I want to make this space as actionable as possible, so I will always share some combo of product recommendations, a recipe I love, a restaurant that excites me (whether new or old), a cookbook I can't stop using, a charity or social mission that inspires me, great gift ideas, and my personal mini guide to a destination I adore. For now, I’ll be invading your inbox about twice a month, but hope to pick up the pace as we get to know each other.
